Bridge House
Santa Fe House

At Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network, we offer two cost-saving, less-restrictive alternatives to psychiatric hospitalization.  Both Bridge House and Santa Fe House -- modern residential treatment facilities located on our two-acre Littleton campus -- offer adults living with disabling mental illnesses (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression disorder) the specialized care needed for recovery.

Bridge House helps those in crisis to stabilize and also serves as a step-down unit after psychiatric hospitalization.  Santa Fe House is a residential facility that provides supportive living arrangements as consumers learn the everyday skills needed to live on their own.

With nurturing, comfortable and safe surroundings, Bridge House and Santa Fe House provide the ideal setting for acute psychiatric stabilization and residential treatment. Both programs share the common goal of helping consumers improve their quality of life and functioning while managing their mental illness. We treat each individual with dignity and compassion while providing the necessary support, structure and supervision to rebuild one's life and move toward increased independence.

Bridge House

An alternative to psychiatric hospitalization in a soothing therapeutic setting, Bridge House provides consumers with our highest degree of structure and staff supervision. In addition to offering another option to a psychiatric hospital stay, the 11,000 square foot, 16-bed Bridge House also serves as a hospital step-down for patients transferring from inpatient facilities. The goal of treatment is to help residents become stable, improve their functioning, and better manage their illnesses before transitioning back into the community.

Bridge House offers residents around-the-clock nursing coverage, medication management, daily visits with a psychiatrist or a prescribing nurse, and a dedicated weekend social worker. In fact, Bridge House offers one of the strongest weekend programs in the state – providing admissions, treatment services and discharges seven days a week, including coverage after hours. Most consumers spend an average of seven days at Bridge House and – as in our other Araphaoe/Douglas Mental Health Network programs – consumers, family and friends are encouraged to play an active role in the recovery process.

Santa Fe House

Santa Fe House is the intermediate care facility at Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network. We provide consumers with supportive living arrangements while they learn the everyday skills needed to live on their own. The perfect complement to Bridge House, the 16-bed Santa Fe House provides the necessary therapeutic structure and monitoring that adults with severe and persistent mental illness need in order to learn to live safely and productively. The mission of Santa Fe House is to support residents as they rebuild their lives, with special emphasis on relapse prevention.

During their stay, which is typically three months, consumers learn about their illness and how to manage their symptoms. Each consumer is evaluated weekly by a registered nurse, and sees a psychiatrist once a month, or more frequently as needed. Consumers receive medication and meet daily for group therapy and weekly for individual, family and couples therapy.

Skills for life

At the same time, residents develop important new daily living skills in such areas as budgeting, social interactions, communication, and cooking. If they wish, they can learn to prepare their own meals in our practice kitchen. As consumers prepare to leave Santa Fe House, they receive assistance in locating suitable housing arrangements. Our case managers work closely with consumers as they re-enter all facets of community living, making sure they are connected to the resources that will support them in becoming increasingly self-sufficient.
